Welcome to the Kingdom.
I am blessed with the responsibility of introducing you to our fraternity, Nu Gammi Psi.
Since 1994, our fraternity has been dedicated to utilizing the principles of love, community service, Brotherhood, leadership, and courage to make our world a better place and to reverse negative situations in all walks of life.
I fell in love with Nu Gamma Psi as an undergraduate at Fayetteville State University; it was being a part of this fraternity that helped me discover what I believe is my calling in life: Service to those who are in need of help. I knew then that I would dedicate myself to building this organization's legacy, expand our scope and help it grow.
Hopefully this site will give you a glimpse into what makes Gamma special and unique. We are loyal to our cause, dedicated to upholding our principles, respectful of the past, and have faith in God and our future.
Thank You,
Bro. Marcus Dupree, FA '11

National Origin
Nu Gamma Psi strives to instill the principles of hard work and determination in young Black men across communities and universities; Our dedication to this ideal can be directly traced to our humble beginnings.
The history of our fraternity is as unique as it is captivating. It is the story of young men who wanted to take the bond they shared in Plymouth, North Carolina, to college with them. It is a story of struggle as well as determination. Through it's 29 years, Nu Gamma Psi Fraternity has encountered many trials and tribulations. Brothers have managed through it all to bring a fraternity that is unrelenting in its determination to succeed.
In 1994, many black communities were devastated by drugs, crime, the impact of the AIDS pandemic, and the mass incarceration of black men. In the midst of all this, a group of young men in Plymouth decided to come together and form a bond centered around Brotherhood and service to the community. Led originally by 7 young men, in the early years, this group took on several forms. Soon however, it became clear that the ultimate path for this revolutionary group would be to become a collegiate, incorporated fraternity.
Finally, in 1999, 4 out of the original Seven- Adrian White, LeJohn Purkett, William Wynn, and Gary Whitley- held a meeting with those members who agreed that a great leap had to take place. The Brothers would decide the permanent principles, mission and goals of their new organization. They also developed the fraternity shield, designated its official colors and symbols, and developed the name: NU GAMMA PSI.
Our current Shield incorporates former shields of the past, and tells our story as a Fraternity.

Chapter Origins
With one of the largest military installments in the world (Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg), two universities (Fayetteville State University and Methodist University), and one of the 5 remaining historically black high schools in the state (E. E. Smith), Fayetteville North Carolina presents a unique mosaic of the past, present and future experiences for Black Americans.
In 2010, a seed was planted by two Plymouth natives. On athletic scholarship at Fayetteville State University, they wanted to bring their fraternity, which began in their hometown, to Fayetteville with them. Initiating three brothers the same year (Marcus Worthy, Ronald Floyd and Xavier Murphy) and five more the following year (Lawrence Woods, Evan Hall, Jamere Pugh, Odell Winfield and Marcus Uzzell), these ten would be chartered as the Gamma Chapter of Nu Gamma Psi.
Over a decade later as our chapter and world have seen several changes and turns, the chapter's spirit of dedication to Brotherhood and community service remain. The chapter participates in year long community service, as well as the distribution of scholarships and awards.
